Just 6 words!

Been browsin' and came across Hamilton Doula.

Here are my 6 word birth stories....

Jan 3 2001: End pain. Epidural. Panic. Overwhelming joy!!

Dec 19 2002: 10 already? Drive faster!! Perfection. Glorious.

April 10 2005: Pushing NOW!! Lobby? - NO!! Pink sweetness.

Ha ha, now you try!

A bit of weekend fun!

On Victoria Day Monday, we decided to take the kids to the Aquarium. My husband got a family pass for his birthday - time to take advantage of it. It was raining and we thought that it wouldn't be too busy.

Duh! It was. The kids still had fun though and we didn't feel rushed to see everything because we know we can come back any time. I was hoping I'd feel comfortable taking the 3 kids on my own but I think I'd go crazy trying to keep track of them all. If Little Missy was still in the stroller it would be a different story....we'll have to see. Perhaps if we only went for an hour at a time I wouldn't lose my mind (although I think that has already happened so what do I REALLY have to worry about??).

Such curious little children!

The dolphin 'training session' was pretty fantastic.

Massive turtle!!

We can't watch the Beluga whales without singing the Baby Beluga song by Raffi.
Fun fun day!

A mamma is a mamma!!

I've been taking the kids to the lake during the week. We do the 1km loop two times. My Little Missy rides in the stroller listening to the Ipod (singing High School Musical full blast) and my Middle Child rides his bike as fast as he can! We're excited to see that a few geese have had their babies. The mamma geese are vicious when it comes to protecting their babies. I find it interesting that they usually join with another mamma....do they know which babies are which? I'm sure they do. Would they protect another goose's baby's like they would their own?

Would I protect my friend's children like my own. You bet.

I can identify with the vicious mamma goose.

Update - Suzanne had a good comment.....perhaps it's a mamma and a papa goose but I'm pretty sure it's two females and their families have combined. Last year there were what appeared to be three females and over 20 goslings! I'd have to read up on goose behaviour to know for sure!!
"There are about eight different types of Canadian geese. All of these
varieties are identically feathered between the males and females.
There is no way to determine the difference by appearance only, other than an
inspection of the reproductive organs. Time permitting, one could
observe which bird lays the eggs."

And...and....and....I also learned
that geese may form groups of a
number of goslings and a few adults, called crèches.

A Mother's Day treat!

Forgot to post this a while back. The young women for our church had a fundraiser to raise $$ for their camping trip this summer. They put together these very clever boxes of chocolates and sold them to the husbands and dads. They are silver DVD cases and they are covered with cute scrappin' paper and ribbon.

Inside we found the Hershey nugget chocolates in coordinating paper. They had the 'rules of chocolate' posted in the lid. We are going to make these for our Christmas craft night in November, with Christmas coordinates of course. The boxes cost about 5$ to put together and they sold them for 10$. Pretty cost effective!!

Very very cute!! My husband bought a few of them for all of the special women in his life. I was impressed!!

Motivation Monday!

Autumn Rose started a Motivation Monday meme and I've been tagged by A Place for Everything.

"The rules of the game are simple enough…just list 5 things you wish to achieve during the week ahead and hopefully get motivated!"

  • Get caught up on the ironing. The pile is getting bigger and bigger but who wants to iron when it's 30C (or 86F)? My iron has lost the ability to steam which is terribly annoying - now I just have to spray everything with water. Time to invest in a new one!!
  • Empty the 'catch-all' basket in the kitchen that is starting to overflow with junk. It's gotta go.
  • Plant tomato plants in the front flower bed.
  • Walk 10km this week. I only got to 6 last week.
  • Bake something every day whether it be buns, a cake, bread, cookies. I need to get back to cooking from scratch instead of relying on the prepackaged stuff!
So, that's it. 5 of a list of 30 things I need to get accomplished this week. There's so much to do around here but it's nice to get a little kick in the pants from Misslionheart.

Who am I tagging?........Team Kirk and the Glazner Family.
